| Johnny Pesky spent the majority of his Major League career with the Boston Red Sox and would become a franchise icon in the process. A tough out for pitchers, Pesky consistently racked up hits, three times leading the American League, and also was a mainstay among the top 10 in on base percentage.
The infielder was also a close friend of the legend Ted Williams, as well as teammates Bobby Doerr and Dom DiMaggio while a member of the Red Sox. He will not soon be forgotten among Red Sox fans either as he has a piece of Fenway Park named after home. Due to his tendency to hit short home runs down the right field line, often hitting the foul pole in the process, the pole now sports the nickname of Pesky's pole.
He has remained with the organization for decades in one manner or the other and participated in the World Series Championship ceremonies following the Red Sox first World Championship in 86 years.
