After being named the 2005 International League MVP, following a stellar season during which he batted .310 with 25 doubles, 18 homers, and 70 RBIs, Shane Victorino finally got the call up to the Majors from the Philadelphia Phillies.
A lightning fast outfielder who goes hard on every play, Victorino earned increased playing time and praise from fans and teammates alike for his productive and consistent play and has become a mainstay in the Phillies starting line-up. He adds an important advantage for the Phillies as a base runner and base stealer, evidenced by his 37 steals in 2007, and has shown he is more than capable at the plate, batting both for average and for power.
Victorino has also developed into one of the best defensive outfielders the league has to offer. With the speed to get to almost any ball, the Flyin Hawaiian also displays a cannon of an arm that has put him among the league leaders in outfield assists.
