Going into the 1985 NCAA Men's Championship Game, the Georgetown Hoyas had all but been given the NCAA Basketball Championship. Led by dominating center Patrick Ewing, few, if any at all, gave the Villanova Wildcats even the slightest chance to win. The biggest underdog in NCAA Championship history, the Wildcats needed to play a perfect game in order to beat the Hoyas...and they did.

In one of the biggest upsets of all time and one that shocked the entire basketball world, Villanova pulled off the impossible by defeating Georgetown 66-64 and claiming the 1985 NCAA Championship. And they did it the only way possible: by playing a near perfect 40 minutes of basketball. The Wildcats took only 10 shots in the 2nd Half, but made 9 of them and shot an unbelievable .786 from the field for the game, an all-time tournament record. Nova center Ed Pickney had 16 points and 6 rebounds and outplayed opposing center Ewing, keeping him in check to the tune of only 14 points.

After the game, Georgetown head coach John Thompson said of the Cats, "You couldn't get much better", and he was right. Under the leadership of Coach Rollie Massimino, Villanova forever put their stamp on college basketball and helped remind everyone that nothing is impossible.
