After dominating opposing offenses at the college level at Troy University, and setting many school records in the process, Demarcus Ware was drafted by the Cowboys with their first pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.
Ware's high motor, versatility, and ability to get pressure on the quarterback caught the eye of the Dallas front office and their investment of a high first round pick on Ware is paying off. He has been a force on the defensive line for the Cowboys and is constantly playing in the backfield of his opponents. Ware's athletic ability and quick understanding of the game have also been integral in helping the Cowboys to switch between 3-4 and 4-3 defenses with much success.
He has become a cornerstone for a young defense that looks to be dominant for years to come. Ware finished a stellar rookie season with 58 tackles, 8 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles and followed up with an even more impressive sophomore season when he recorded 73 tackles and a team-high 11.5 sacks. He was rewarded for his outstanding play with his first Pro Bowl trip following the 2006 season and bettered his numbers in 2007 when he recorded 14 sacks and was once again named to the Pro Bowl.
