Originally signed by the Atlanta Braves, Mickey Rivers spent over 12 years in the Majors, playing with the California Angles, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers. 'Mick the Quick' was a fleet footed leadoff hitter known for putting the ball in play and was an above average defensive center fielder. After seeing little time in his first few years with the Angles, Rivers became their starting center fielder and even stole a career and league high 70 bases in 1975.
The following year Rivers was traded to the Yankees and immediately became a key piece of their high powered team. In his first full year with the Yankees, Rivers batted .312, stole 43 bases and was named to the A.L. All-Star team. He would continue to produce with the team and won World Series titles with the Yankees in both 1977 and 1978, finishing his career with a .308 average in 29 postseason games.
Overall, Rivers left the game with a career average that hovered around .300, close to 270 stolen bases, and over 1,600 hits.
This Unframed 8x10 New York Yankees Photo is signed by Rivers and comes with a BC Sports Certificate of Authenticity and is MLB Authenticated.
