| A former waiter and substitute teacher, David Akers is now one of the most consistent and respected place kickers in the NFL. Akers is the Eagles' all-time leader in FGs and is among the league leaderes in NFL history when it comes to FG percentage. Akers also set an NFL record in 2004 by nailing 17 FGs of 40 yards or more and has served as a valuable weapon for the Eagles' offense.
A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Akers is among the league leaders in most points recorded in the NFL since 2000.
Akers also became the Philadelphia Eagles' all-time leading scorer during the 2007 season, setting the record agains the Eagles' rival Dallas Cowboys.
