A talented player with all the tools to be a Major League star for years to come, Hanley Ramirez was a highly touted prospect in the Boston Red Sox system from 2002-05. Ramirez consistently put up stellar numbers in the Minors and finally made his debut with the Red Sox at the end of the 2005 season.
Despite his vast potential, the Red Sox reluctantly parted ways with Ramirez before the 2006 season, trading him in a package deal to the Florida Marlins for starting pitcher Josh Beckett and All-Star 3rd baseman Mike Lowell. Ramirez immediately impressed the Marlins' coaches and was named the Marlins' staring shortstop. He would not disappoint, finishing a spectacular rookie season in which he led led all MLB rookies with a .292 BA, 185 hits, 119 runs, 11 triples and 51 SBs. Ramirez also became the first Marlin ever to post double digits in triples, home runs and stolen bases and was rewarded for his great play by being named the National League Rookie of the Year.
Now a cornerstone of a young, but very talented team, Ramirez will look to replicate his success for years to come and lead the Marlins back into the Playoffs.
This MLB Baseball Inscribed "06 NL ROY" is signed by Ramirez and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
