As one of the fastest players in baseball, Juan Pierre has established himself as one of the most exciting and productive leadoff hitters in the game. He has stolen at least 45 bases each year from 2001 to 2004, and led the NL in stolen bases in both 2001 and 2003.

In 2004, he led the National League in at-bats (for the second year in a row) with 678, in hits(221), and in triples(12), while also being the only player in Major League Baseball to play every inning of each of his team's games in 2004. Pierre first made a name for himself in 2003 when he helped to lead the Marlins to a World Series championship, batting .333 during the World Series.

Pierre was traded to the Chicago Cubs in the 2005 offseason and following a productive year with the team, was signed to a lucrative deal by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
