With a fastball that hovers around 100MPH, Wagner has been an incredibly reliable closer with the Houston Astros, the Philadelphia Phillies, and now the New York Mets and has become known for his amazingly high strikeouts per 9 innings ratios.

With the development of an effective slider, Wagner has been able to keep hitters off-balance before putting them away with his fastball. The 3-time All-Star also won the Rolaids Relief Man of the Year Award in 1999. 

Following the 2005 season, Wagner was seen as an essential piece of the puzzle for a Mets bullpen that struggled in past years and, after being signed to a multi-year contract, looks to anchor the team back to the playoffs.
