Alex Rodriguez, known as A-Rod, was taken with the first pick in the 1993 Amateur Draft by the Seattle Mariners. The star shortstop hit .358 with 36 HRs in 1996, his first full season in the majors. Then in 1998, after nailing 42 HRs and stealing 46 bases, he became just the third-ever member of baseball's "40-40 club".
Now one of the best and most exciting players in the game, A-Rod also became the richest ever when he signed a 10 year $252 million contract with the Texas Rangers in 2000. In 2003, he took home the American League MVP as a member of the Rangers, after hitting 47 homeruns and driving in 118 runs.
The team as a whole continued to struggle, however, and in 2004 A-Rod and his contract were traded to the New York Yankees, where he again captured the AL MVP Award. He also became the youngest player ever to become a member of baseball's 400 HR Club.
This MLB Baseball is signed by 2-time Gold Glove Winner and perennial All-Star A-Rod and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
