After beginning his baseball career as a player, including a wildly successful stint in the Japanese professional league, Charlie Manuel returned to the states and began to work his way up the coaching ranks. Manuel started as a scout, spent several years as a minor league manager, then became a hitting coach for the Cleveland Indians, and was finally named the team's manager in 2000.  He was let go after several years with the Indians and shortly thereafter joined the Philadelphia Phillies organization.

With the firing of Phillies' manager Larry Bowa, Manuel moved from the front office to the dugout when he was named the team's manager prior to the 2006 season.  Manuel instantly formed a strong bond with the players and is widely considered one of the most popular managers among his players in the league. He has also enjoyed success on the field, first leading the Phillies to their first Playoff appearance in 13 years in 2007 and then leading the team to its first World Series title in 28 years in 2008.

This 2008 World Series MLB Baseball is signed by Manuel and comes with a BC Sports Certificate of Authenticity and is MLB Authenticated.
