In 2005, his first full year as a starter for the New York Mets, David Wright gave Mets fans something to look forward to for a long time after playing in 160 games and batting .306 with 27 home runs, 99 runs, 102 RBI, 42 doubles, and 17 stolen bases, while leading the team in average, runs, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, RBI, and doubles.  Wright is also an exceptional fielder and paired with fellow young superstar Jose Reyes, is part of what many consider the best left side of the infield in the Majors.   

With such steady production and continued improvement, Wright is well on his way to being one of the top 3rd baseman in the game.  After a stellar start to his sophomore season, Wright was named to his first All-Star game as the NL's starting 3rd baseman and homered in his first ever All-Star at bat.  Wright also participated in the Home Run Derby, where he finished second to Ryan Howard, but entertained and dazzled the crowed by blasting 16 home runs in the first round.
