| Payton, or 'Sweetness' as he often was called, was one of the greatest and most exciting running backs in the history of the NFL, although he was known as anything but 'sweet' to opposing defenses. Payton was a physical, bruising runner who felt he had just as much right to hit defenders as they did to hit him. He is 2nd on the NFL's all-time rushing yards list, behind only Emmit Smith, with an astounding 16,726 yards - the equivalent of 9? miles. A 2-time MVP and 9-time Pro Bowler, Payton also helped lead the Chicago Bears to victory in Super Bowl XX. Unfortunately, due to a rare liver disease that was combined with cancer, Walter Payton passed away at the young age of 45 in 1999. His football legacy, however, will live on forever. This framed 16x20 photo is signed by Payton and comes with a certificate of authenticity. |
