Nettles was one of the best defensive third baseman of all time and finished his career with a fielding percentage of .964, exceptional for the hot corner. This 6-time All Star and 2-time Gold Glove award winner holds the Major League single-season records for assists and double plays by a third baseman (412 and 54, 1971), as well as the AL record for most homeruns by a third baseman. A key part of four pennant-winning Yankee teams, Nettles won the ALCS MVP in 1981.
