| One of the best relief pitchers in baseball during the late 1970s and early 1980s, the 6-foot, 226-pound Gossage had an intimidating look on the mound because of his size, his fierce scowl, and his cowboy-style moustache. He signed with the New York Yankees as a free agent in 1978 and played an important role on three division champions during the next four years. During this time, Gossage led the league with 27 saves in 1978 and 33 in 1980, while posting an ERA of only 0.77 in 1981. He compiled a total of 150 saves during his 6 year stint with the Yankees and finished with 310 for his career, which ranks eighth on the all-time save list and his 115 relief victories ranked third all-time. This framed 16x20 photo with '77 AL MVP Thurmon Munson is signed by Goosage and comes with a certificate of authenticity. |
