| After playing in the NFL for 7 seasons, Don Shula found his true calling as an NFL head coach. After a successful 7-year coaching stint with the Baltimore Colts, Miami Dophins' owner Joe Robbie traded a 1st Rd. pick in 1969 to acquire Shula as the Dolphins' head coach. Coach Shula's coaching success continued with the Dolphins through the 1970's as he led them to 7 playoff appearances and 2 Super Bowl victories during the decade. He would eventually lead them to 11 more playoff appearances and 2 more Super Bowls. His most famous feat however, came in 1972 when he led the Dolphins to a 14-0 regular season record (17-0 including the playoffs), thus becoming the only team in the modern NFL to go undefeated in the regular season. Shula retired holding the NFL records for regular season wins (328), total victories (347), single season win percentage (1.000 in 1972), most games coached (516), most playoff losses (17), and most consecutive seasons coached (23). This framed 8x10 photo is signed by Shula and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. |
