Alonzo Mourning, or 'Zo' as he has become to be called, is known on the court for his intensity and defensive tenacity.  A 2-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Mourning has long been consdidered one of the best defenders in the game and one of the few players that can change the course of a game from the defensive end of the court.  After starring at Georgetown University, Zo first entered the NBA as the #2 pick in the draft of the Charlotte Hornets. 

He immediately made an impact, helping to lead the Hornets to the Playoffs, while collecting 1st Team All-Rookie Honors in the process.  Mourning was traded to the Miami Heat three years later, where he would truly begin to establish himself as one of the most dominant forces in the league.  A 7-time All-Star, Zo also showed his toughness off the court, overcoming a kidney disease the forced him to miss the entire 2002-03 Season. 

 Following short stints in New Jersey and Toronto, Mourning returned to the Miami Heat before the 2005-06 season where he backed up Shaquille O'Neal at center.  He provided a spark off the bench and was a key contributor for the Heat throughout the season, especially when Shaq was out with a prolonged injury. 

Mourning continued to make his presence felt throughout the playoffs, cosistently playing a key role off the bench, and capping it off with an 8 point, 6 rebound, and 5 block performance in the decisive Game 6 NBA Finals victory over the Dallas Mavericks, helping the Heat earn their first ever NBA Championship.
