Despite going to college at the lesser known University of New Mexico, NFL scouts couldn't help but be awed by Brian Urlacher's abilities on the football field.  The Chicago Bears in particular thought highly of Urlacher and selected him with the 9th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.  He has yet to disappoint.

Although Urlacher struggled a bit as a rookie, he was thrust into the starting line-up following an injury and hasn't looked back since. He recorded back to back 15 tackle games and immediately became a fan favorite in the Windy City. The league took notice as well, naming Urlacher the Defensive Rookie of the Year and rewarding him with a Pro Bowl birth.

Urlacher has since become a mainstay in the Pro Bowl and is the anchor of one of the most feared and dominant defenses in the league.  In 2005, one of his best years in the league, Urlacher recorded 122 tackles and 5 sacks and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
