An excellent high school athlete, Doug Gabriel took his game to the University of Central Florida where he became one of the most prolific wide receivers in the school's history.  In just two years, Gabriel amassed  97 receptions for 1,869 yards and 20 touchdowns and added 795 yards on 37 kickoff returns, finishing his college career in the school's top ten in both receiving yards and touchdowns. 

Gabriel was then drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 5th Round of the 2003 NFL Draft.  He saw limited time in his first year with the team, but in 2004 became one of the team's go to receivers.  Gabriel is a rare blend of size and speed with the ability to both stretch the field and catch the ball over the middle.  He has also proven to be a valuable special teams player, evidenced by his 2004 season in Oakland when he collected over 1,100 yards in kick returns. 

Gabriel was traded to the New England Patriots at the beginning of the 2006 season and was immediately inserted into a starting role.  He has once again shown the ability to stretch the field and has become a prime target of Tom Brady's.
