Tom Barrasso started playing goalie from the time he could lace up skates, developing into one of the most highly touted American goalie prospects of all time. Barrasso skipped college and jumped straight to the NHL, where the Buffalo Sabres drafted him with the 5th Overall Pick in the 1983 NHL Draft. Barrasso did not disappoint, winning both the Calder Trophy as the top rookie and the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goaltender in his first NHL season. He would spend several more years with the Sabres before being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1988.
It was during his time with the Penguins that Barrasso established himself as one of the league's top clutch performers, saving many of his best games for the biggest stage during the Playoffs. He backstopped the Penguins to back to back Stanley Cup Championships in 1991 and 1992 and later became the first American-born goaltender to record 300 wins.
Barrasso retired in 2003 after 18 seasons in the league, leaving with 367 wins and a record at that time of 48 points by a goaltender.
This Buffalo Sabres NHL Puck Inscribed "Calder/Vezina" is signed by Barrasso and comes with a BC Sports Certificate of Authenticity.
