An original 7th Round Draft Pick by the Colorado Rockies in 1998, Matt Holliday has far and away exceeded expectations.  He made his MLB debut in 2004 and soon after would become a mainstay in the Rockies line-up after batting .290 with 14 HRs and 57 RBI during his rookie season.

These rookie numbers would prove to be a sign of things to come as Holliday batted over .300 the following year and surpassed all of his previous season's offensive numbers.  In 2006, Holliday would earn his first All-Star nomination during a season in which he hit 326 with 196 hits, 34 home runs, 114 RBI, and 119 runs.  Having established himself as one of the best offensive players in the game, Holliday posted MVP-caliber numbers during the 2007 season when he led the NL in batting with a .340 average, in addition to an OBP of over .400, 37 HRs, and 137 RBI.

More importantly, Holliday also was the catalyst for a Rockies team that reeled off an unprecedented winning streak en route to the team's first ever World Series appearance.  After batting .333 with two home runs and four RBI during the NLCS, Holliday was named the series MVP.
