Adrian Peterson burst onto the national scene as a freshman at the University of Oklahoma when he rushed for an NCAA freshman record of 1,925 yards and was named a 1st-Team All-American.  A rare combination of breakaway speed and power, Peterson emerged as one of the best college running backs in recent history and finished 2nd in the Heisman voting as a freshman, also a freshman record.  Despite suffering through injuries during his sophomore and junior campaigns and leaving for the NFL after his junior season, Peterson still managed to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark in all three years as a Sooner and left Oklahoma as the school's 3rd all-time leading rusher.

Following his stellar collegiate career, the Minnesota Vikings selected Peterson with the 7th Overall Pick in the 2007 NFL Draft with plans of making him their franchise running back.  Peterson responded by posting a 100 yard game in his first NFL regular season game and received NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month honors after racking up over 400 yards from scrimmage in his first three games.  He then set several team records when he torched the Chicago Bears defense for 224 yards and three touchdowns on just 20 carries in only his 5th NFL game.

He went on to finish a stellar rookie season with 1,341 yards and 12 TD's and was named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year, as well as being named to the Pro Bowl.
