| Although he went undrafted coming out of Miami University, Andy Greene was signed by the New Jersey Devils and assigned to their AHL affiliate. Greene would excel at this level and was named to the PlanetUSA All-Star team. Having caught the eye of coaches and management, he was called up to the Devils during the 2006-07 season following injuries to several of the team's defensemen. The plan was to send Greene back down once the players returned, but he played so well that the Devils kept him on their postseason roster and he became a mainstay on the defensive end of the ice.
Greene has since established himself as one of the team's top blueline players and has risen to one of the team leaders in ice time. With his continued outstanding play, Greene also earned a contract extension and has been tabbed by the Devils as one of their key young players for years to come.
