Bernie Parent was a sports hero in the City of Brotherly Love. One local bumper sticker read, ""Only the Lord saves more than Bernie Parent."" He was a part of the Flyers' Broad Street Bullies, Parent and his teammates won the Stanley Cup twice in a row, in 1974 and 1975. In both seasons, Parent won the Vezina Trophy as best goalie and the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. Now inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame Parent is one of the best ever at his position and is still loved in the city of Philadelphia.

At the NHL level, Dave Schultz quickly showed the league why he was known as ""The Hammer"".  He fought mammoth battles against fellow enforcers like Keith Magnuson and Terry O'Reilly.  He also ensured that the smaller minnows of the league played an honest game when skating near the Flyers' more elite players.  The formula of fight first and play hockey later proved very successful as Philly won successive Stanley Cups in 1974 and '75. In the 1974-75 season he set the record for Penalty minutes in a single season (472).

Last but not least Hall of Famer Bobby Clarke. Clarke was the lynch pin and captain of the back to back Stanley Cup Champion Philadelphia Flyers in 1974 and 75. As a player, he captured numerous individual awards, including the Hart Trophy as the league's most valuable player in 1973, 1975 and 1976, and made the All-Star Team four times. Under the captaincy of Clarke, Philadelphia played a very aggressive game of hockey.
