A force during his high school years in Texas, Kendrick Perkins drew comparions to Shaquille O'Neal due in large part to his imposing frame and dominance around the basket. NBA scouts took notice and Perkins made the jump from high school directly to the pros when he was drafted in the 1st Round of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. Perkins was immediately packaged in a deal that sent him to Boston where he would become a key young player for a rebuilding Celtics team. He has since displayed a hard-nosed, hard-working style of play and has established himself as an imposing presence down low for the Celtics. As a result, he has seen increased playing time coupled with increased production and has become a regular contributor and starter on a Celtics team that has once again become one of the league's elite teams as evidenced by their 2007-08 NBA Championship.
