Dave Cowens was a record-setting forward at Florida State University, ranking in the top 10 in the school's history in both scoring and rebounding.  Following his illustrious college career, the Boston Celtics selected Cowens with the 4th Overall Pick in the 1970 NBA Draft. Cowens would go on to play with the Celtics for a decade, earning 7 All-Star appearances over that time.  In his first year in the league, Cowens averaged 17 points and an impressive 15 rebounds per game and was named the NBA's Rookie of the Year.  He would go on to play an integral role in both the Celtics' 1974 and 1976 Championship runs and was a fan favorite due to his relentless and all out effort driven play on both ends of the court.  He enjoyed perhaps his best year in 1973 when he averaged 20.5 ppg and 16.2 rpg and was named the League's MVP en route to leading the Celtcis to 68 wins.  Cowens was named to the NBA's 50th Anniversary Team in 1996 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.
