Widely considered one of the most underrated players of all time, Ron Francis spent over two decades in the NHL, finishing his career with one of the most impressive and long-lived careers in the history of the league. Francis entered the league in 1981-82 as a member of the Hartford Whalers after having been selected with the 4th Overall Pick in the 1981 Draft. He would go on to spend a decade with the team, the majority of which he served as the team's Captain, and left the team as the franchise's all-time leading scorer. He was thenacquired by the Pittsburgh Penguins in a trade during the 1991 season, where he teamed with Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr to give the Penguins one of the most talented and successful teams in the league. Francis would prosper with his new team and the team saw immediate dividends as well, as they won back to back Stanley Cup Championships in 1990-91 and 1991-92. He would also enjoy his most productive years as a Penguin, including the 1995-96 season when he recorded career highs in both asssists, with 92, and points, with 119. Francis would go on to spend several years with the Carolina Hurricanes and then had a short stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs before hanging up his skates for good at the conclusion of the 2003-04 season. He would finish his career with 1,798 points in 1,731 regular-season games, including 1,249 assists, which at the time of his retirement put him 2nd all-time in the history of theNHL behind only Wayne Gretzky. Fracis's years of hard work, dedication, and success were rewarded in 2007 when he was inducted into the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame.
